What is Own art ?

Own art is a scheme which offers interest free credit to buy contemporary art and craft by living artists.
Own art is a Creative United programme run in partnership with Arts Council England, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Creative Scotland.
Creative United is a registered trademark of Creative Sector Services CIC, a community interest company, in partnership with our credit provider Hitachi Capital Consumer Finance.
Own art is designed to make buying art and craft easy and affordable.

What do I need ?

To make a purchase through Own art, you will need to bring along to the gallery some form of proof of identity and proof of residence.
You will also need your bank account details that can handle direct debits, and you will need to be over 18.
A proof of residence would be any of the following documents, a bank statement, a public utility bill that is dated within the last three months, an official document like a mortgage statement from a recognised lender.
A proof of signature would be any of the following, a bank credit/debit card, or a cheque guarantee card.
The ideal document to bring along is a driving licence, or current passport, these have all the details in one document that we would need to process an application.

What can I buy ?

You can buy paintings, sculpture, prints, artist film and video, photography, jewellery, metal work, ceramics, glass, furniture and textiles by living artists.

How much can I borrow ?

You can borrow any amount between £100.00 and £2,500.00
The loan amount can go towards a work of art that costs more than £2,500.00, and you would pay the remainder of the balance in full, either on a credit or debit card at the time of the application being approved.
The amount that you borrow is then paid back over ten months in equal amounts ( see example below )
There is no charge for the credit ( typical 0% Representative ) This means that the total amount payable under the loan, is not more than the cash price of the piece(s) of work purchased.
You do not need to pay a deposit, and there is no administrative charge or handling fee.

How do I apply ?

All applications are completed and processed online within the gallery, and usually take around ten minutes to process, and approve.
Once your application is approved, you are able to take any work purchased away with you on the same day.

Seen something that you like ?

Simply divide the price by ten to work out what your monthly payment would be.
